A white powder with high absorbent capacity. In cosmetics it works as a mattifier and absorbent: it soaks up sebum and gives the formula a soft-focus effect, optically softening pores and fine irregularities. It is used in creams for oily and combination skin, foundations, loose and pressed powders, and deodorants. Use levels run from 1 to 15%. Pregnancy safety. The molecule is large and does not penetrate the skin. The aluminum content is bound in an insoluble complex – concerns about systemic absorption are not supported.
