Hydrogel polymer with embedded glycerin. Functionally and sensorially similar to glyceryl polyacrylate – it forms clear lightweight gels with a humectant effect. Pregnancy-safe and low-allergenicity.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
Functional hydrogel polymer. Hydrates via embedded glycerin without standalone biological activity. Safety confirmed by CIR.
Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer is a linear or weakly cross-linked acrylic copolymer with a glyceryl acrylate matrix. Its properties are close to glyceryl polyacrylate (Hispagel-200), but with a higher acrylic-acid share. INCI: Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer. In formulas it works as a water-phase thickener and glycerin carrier. It produces clear, lightweight gels that turn to water rapidly on the skin. Used in essences, serums, toning gels, and sleeping masks. Use levels are 1-20%. It dislikes high electrolyte content and very acidic pH (<3.5) – the formula separates. Humectant action. The glycerin in the polymer matrix works as an ordinary humectant – it binds water from the environment and holds it in the stratum corneum. On the humectant scale it is comparable to medium-MW hyaluronic acid, but without the polysaccharide structure. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is safe. The polymer is too large for systemic absorption. CIR confirmed the safety of acrylate copolymers. Skin tolerance. Low irritation and allergen potential. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for sensitive skin. Particularly popular for acne-prone and combination skin – delivers hydration without a greasy film. No standalone cosmetic effects beyond hydration and texture. Marketing claims of anti-pollution and anti-aging action via the hydrogel film are not clinically supported.

Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer suits: normal, dry, combination, oily, sensitive.
Hydrogel polymer with embedded glycerin.
On the Fulton scale 0/5 – non-comedogenic. For acne-prone skin, a rating of 3 or higher suggests choosing an alternative.
The INCI name is Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer. It may also appear as: Hispagel 200, Глицерил акрилат/акриловая кислота кополимер.
