Functional gel polymer with a moisturizing sensorial effect. Safety confirmed by CIR.
Glyceryl Polymethacrylate is a cross-linked copolymer of polymethacrylic acid with glycerin, a hydrophilic gel. INCI: Glyceryl Polymethacrylate. Sold under the Lubrajel brand (Ashland). It looks like a clear gel in the water phase. In cosmetics it works as a hydro-sponge: the molecule traps water in the polymer matrix and releases it gradually to the skin. This produces a long-lasting moisturizing feel and a pleasant cool finish. It also improves cream slip and stabilizes the emulsion. Use levels run from 1 to 10%. Pregnancy safety. The molecule is too large for systemic absorption. CIR rates the safety profile as acceptable. Skin profile. Low irritation and allergen potential. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for all skin types, especially valued in formulas for dehydrated and mature skin. No standalone active effects on collagen, the barrier or pigmentation – it is a moisturizing and textural component.
