Low-molecular-weight peptide hydrolysate of elastin (a dermal structural protein). Surface hydration and film-forming effect; does not rebuild the skin's own elastin. Pregnancy-safe.
Topical application
CWeak evidence. In vitro data, open-label studies, or expert consensus.
Surface humectant. Claimed elastin-restoring effect is not supported.
Hydrolyzed Elastin is obtained by enzymatic cleavage of elastin (usually of bovine or fish origin) into short peptides. INCI: Hydrolyzed Elastin. In cosmetics it works as a surface humectant and film-former. Marketing often sells it as a rebuilder of skin's own elastin, but that is a misleading simplification – topically applied elastin does not penetrate the dermis or integrate into the elastin scaffold. The real effect is a thin moisturizing film on the surface. Use levels run from 1 to 5%. Pregnancy safety. Skin absorption into the systemic circulation is minimal. Topically safe. Skin profile. Low irritation potential. Low allergen risk, with possible reactions in people allergic to animal protein. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for all skin types.

Hydrolyzed Elastin is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
Hydrolyzed Elastin suits: normal, dry, combination, oily, sensitive.
Low-molecular-weight peptide hydrolysate of elastin (a dermal structural protein).
On the Fulton scale 0/5 – non-comedogenic. For acne-prone skin, a rating of 3 or higher suggests choosing an alternative.
The INCI name is Hydrolyzed Elastin. It may also appear as: эластин, гидролизованный эластин.
