Damask rose hydrosol is obtained by steam distillation of fresh Rosa damascena petals. INCI: Rosa Damascena Flower Water. A clear liquid with a characteristic floral scent, containing trace amounts of essential oil (phenylethanol, geraniol, citronellol) and water-soluble components. In cosmetics it serves as a water base for toners, essences and sprays. Light anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action is confirmed in vitro. Use levels run from 5 to 90% as part of the water phase.
