Kombucha ferment is the product of fermenting black tea (Camellia sinensis) with a symbiotic culture of Saccharomyces yeast and Komagataeibacter xylinus acetic bacteria. INCI: Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea Ferment. Contains tea polyphenols, organic acids (gluconic, acetic), microbial metabolites and B vitamins. In cosmetics it works as an antioxidant and a mild exfoliant – the ferment pH is acidic and gives a feeling of freshness. Used in essences, toners and serums, especially in K-beauty.
