Yogurt Powder is yogurt dried by spray drying at 80-180°C for a short time. The technology preserves milk proteins, lactose, inactivated bacterial cells, and part of the organic acids, while removing water. The result is a free-flowing yellowish powder with a long shelf life. INCI: Yogurt Powder. Functionally equivalent to liquid yogurt but in concentrated and stable form. Cosmetic formulas prefer the powder over the liquid product for several reasons: easier dosing, no extra preservatives needed against microbial growth, better fit with powder systems (mask powders, soap bars), and more stable integration into emulsions. Active components in reconstituted form (with water): • Lactic acid 0.5-1% – mild AHA, pH 3.5-4.5 support. • Milk proteins – film formation, hydration. • Lactose – mild humectant. • Inactivated lactic-acid bacteria cells – marketing positioning as a probiotic. Use levels are 0.5-5% of the finished product. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is safe. Systemic absorption is absent. No teratogenic effects. Skin tolerance. Low irritation potential. Medium allergen risk – patients with IgE allergy to milk proteins may react. They should choose formulas without dairy derivatives. Non-comedogenic.
