A bioidentical ceramide from the non-hydroxylated class. One of the main lipids of the stratum corneum – restores the barrier and lowers TEWL. Pregnancy-safe.
Topical application
AProven efficacy. Two or more independent RCTs with instrumental endpoints.
Bioidentical ceramide with strong evidence for barrier restoration and atopic dermatitis.
Ceramide NG is a synthetic bioidentical ceramide from the non-hydroxylated class (in the new nomenclature Ceramide NG, formerly Ceramide 2). INCI: Ceramide NG. It is structurally identical to a ceramide of the human stratum corneum. In cosmetics it works as a key component of lipid-restoring formulas. The skin barrier is built on lamellar lipids, where ceramides account for about 50%. When the barrier is disrupted (atopic dermatitis, rosacea, post-procedure state) ceramide levels drop by 30-70%. Topical bioidentical ceramides restore the lamellar structure. Used in creams for dry and atopic skin, post-procedure products and anti-aging formulas. Use levels run from 0.05 to 2%. Often paired with cholesterol and fatty acids in a 1:1:1 ratio. Pregnancy safety. Skin absorption into the systemic circulation is minimal. Bioidentical to the endogenous lipid – safe. Skin profile. Very low irritation and allergen potential. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for all skin types. Active effect confirmed at level A – RCTs show barrier improvement, TEWL reduction and improvement of atopic dermatitis.

Ceramide NG is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
Ceramide NG suits: normal, dry, combination, oily, sensitive.
